A House That Knows Where to Look
February 26, 2025This wasn’t just any project. This was personal. A two-acre site, once home to the lead architect, now divided, leaving this corner lot to find its voice between 91st Street and Red Road. A challenge and an opportunity wrapped in Miami sun.
The vision? Command presence from both streets while keeping the backyard a private sanctuary. The solution? A facade that holds its ground, a double-height great room that makes an entrance, and a layout that tucks the private quarters far from the urban buzz of Red Road.
The homeowners—a beautifully blended family of five kids—came with a wish list, and we listened. Every square foot had to work harder, so we maxed it out. A pergola extends the outdoor living space, because Miami. The BBQ area? Not just a grill, but a full-on experience—Kalamazoo appliances, a pizza oven, a churrasco setup. If it can be fire-cooked, it’s here.
Inside, the kitchen pulls off a magic trick: hiding the work area behind sleek, seamless doors. The island and breakfast nook don’t just sit in the space—they shape it, masking a subtle turn in the room. And then, there’s the glass pantry-meets-wine-cooler, a smart design move that houses appliances without sacrificing aesthetics.
The pool? A mosaic-inlaid centerpiece. The bedrooms? A world away from the city noise. The service areas? Positioned with purpose, fronting the busiest street so the home’s heart can breathe.
Every detail, every decision—intentional. Because good design doesn’t just shape a home. It shapes the way you live in it.
